What you’ll lead and deliver: We are seeking an experienced Senior Accountant on a 6 month fixed term contract to play a pivotal role in coordinating finance‑related activity across the bank during a critical period. This interim position will act as a central point of contact for statutory accounts, completion accounts, and audit activity, ensuring timely, accurate, and well‑controlled delivery of information to internal stakeholders, auditors, and external advisers. This role is key to supporting strong governance, robust reporting, and regulatory compliance within a UK regulated banking environment. You will: Statutory Accounts, Completion Accounts & Transaction Support Support the preparation and delivery of statutory accounts for the bank and group entities in line with IFRS and relevant regulatory requirements. Coordinate financial inputs to ensure consistency between statutory accounts, regulatory returns, and underlying financial records. Support year‑end close processes, including review cycles and approval timetables, to ensure on‑time sign‑off. Coordinate the preparation, review, and finalisation of completion accounts. Ensure completion accounts are prepared in accordance with transaction agreements, accounting standards, and agreed methodologies. Liaise with internal finance, risk, and treasury teams, as well as external advisers, to resolve queries and support robust, well‑evidenced outcomes. Coordination & Central Oversight Act as a central coordination point for finance‑related information requests across the bank. Manage and prioritise requests from internal stakeholders, external auditors, regulators, and professional advisers. Track actions to completion, ensuring clear ownership, deadlines, and appropriate escalation to meet statutory, audit, and regulatory timetables. This is a hybrid role ideally based in Basingstoke, with flexibility to work 2 days in Basingstoke and 1 day per week in London with 2 days from home per week. Alternatively, we will consider candidates to be based in London 2 days a week with 1 day per week in Basingstoke and 2 days at home. What you’ll bring: We are looking for an individual with the communication ability to build credibility and influence teams. Alongside strong planning and organisational ability, you will be able anticipate issues and proactively overcome obstacles, whilst managing or supporting team members. In addition, you will have the following experience: Essential Strong understanding of statutory accounts preparation within a UK banking or regulated financial services environment. ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent qualified accountant. Solid knowledge of IFRS and awareness of regulatory expectations relevant to banks. Proven ability to coordinate and prioritise requests across multiple teams and stakeholders under tight deadlines. Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage dependencies and see tasks through to completion. Experience working effectively with third‑party consultants and auditors. Desirable Experience supporting or coordinating completion accounts for acquisitions, disposals, or group restructurings. Advanced Excel and/or Power BI skills.
