We have an exciting opportunity to join us as a Band 6 Inpatient Midwife at our St Helier site!

Our maternity team provides a forward-thinking environment, offering comprehensive and high-quality care to women and their families. Our team are committed to promoting woman-centred, individualised care to a diverse population.

1. We care for approximately 4,300 women annually across our two sites, utilising digital maternity systems.
2. Comprehensive Service Offering: Includes assisted conception, community services, obstetric-led labour wards, birth centres, specialist midwifery teams, and home birth team.
3. Positive Feedback: Women and families consistently report positive experiences, highlighting the quality of care provided. The 2024 Maternity Benchmark survey demonstrated ESTH performed above average, particularly in postnatal care.
4. Active Improvement Culture: On-going improvement projects that aim to enhance service delivery and workforce development.
5. Collaboration with Local Maternity Systems

Main duties of the job

At Epsom and St Helier we pride ourselves in offering flexible working arrangements, a robust in service training package and a positive working culture. Our midwives provide an excellent standard of midwifery care in the inpatient setting. They will be expected to carry out all relevant forms of midwifery care and will supervise other midwives, preceptors, maternity assistants and students as necessary.

Role will include:

6. Fundamentally required to undertake all clinical activities that are required of a midwife
7. Work within the inpatient setting, providing care to women and their families antenatally, intrapartum and postnatally.
8. Demonstrate clinical expertise and act as a professional role model
9. Effectively maintain records in accordance with NMC guidelines

Education and Qualifications

Essential criteria

10. Registered Midwife with active UK NMC Pin
11. Completed Preceptorship program
12. Mentorship qualification or SSSA equivalent

Desirable criteria

13. Evidence of post-registration education activity
14. NLS accreditation
15. NIPE qualification

Experience

Essential criteria

16. Recent experience across a range of maternity settings
17. Experience of mentoring junior staff or students

Desirable criteria

18. Post registration Inpatient experience

Knowledge and Skills

Essential criteria

19. Achieved competency in cannulation, suturing and medicines administration
20. Good knowledge of obstetric emergency management
21. Good IT and administration skills
22. Demonstrates excellent communication skills

Desirable criteria

23. Experience in Digital Maternity systems (eg. Badgernet, iClip)

You must have appropriate UK professional registration.
