Our goal is to enable the analysis of any living thing, by anyone, anywhere! The Role We are looking for a highly motivated individual to join our Sample Technology team as a Development Scientist. This role supports the development of new nanopore sequencing products, focusing on our bespoke sample-preparation kits and workflows the role involves the development and delivery of novel applications, protocols and workflows to our growing customer base. The successful applicant will create, develop and test library preparation methods compatible with our pioneering sequencing devices, such as the MinION and PromethION, facilitating optimal downstream analysis for sample-to-answer workflows. Other responsibilities include: Developing, optimising and testing protocols and workflows Showcase the performance of the end-to-end workflows and protocols developed in-house Be proficient in the operation of our Nanopore sequencing devices and basic analysis Data analysis (from basic data manipulation to more complex bioinformatic pipelines). Communicate and liaise effectively with key stakeholders, including presentations Maintain through record and of experimental work and analysis and carry out other documentation as required The role will offer the opportunity to develop products and protocols for our growing customer base. The role is primarily lab-based. What We're Looking For A degree in chemistry, chemical biology, biochemistry or molecular biology, ideally with some experience in industry or research environment Familiarity with basic molecular biology techniques such as nucleic acid extraction, gel electrophoresis, PCR, qPCR etc Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Strong attention to detail and a high level of organisation Ability to maintain detailed records of experiments Experience in bioinformatic analysis is beneficial This role will suit someone who is motivated to achieve results.
