As a Quantity Surveyor, your role will include responsibilities for managing financial and contractual aspects of the University of Portsmouth MTC contract. You will also play strong part in ensuring the smooth delivery of operations by maintain accurate measures and minimising application rejections.
The successful candidate will need to apply a methodical approach to problem-solving, allowing you to assess challenges logically and implement effective solutions. Your commercial awareness and financial acumen will drive client satisfaction while maintaining the highest levels of service delivery. A proactive and hands-on approach is essential for effectively tackling challenges, coupled with clear communication skills to drive continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities Include
(but not limited to):
Work closely with and supporting the senior managers on the contract and report to the
Commercial manager.
Preparation of monthly applications on all works streams including PPM, Reactive and
Remedial completed works.
Ensure compliance with contract terms, legal regulations, and company policies.
Monitor performance against targets and implement corrective actions when necessary.
Provide clear financial insights and recommendations to senior management.
Conduct Valuations and Variations for on going works.
Preparation and submission of final accounts for capital projects inline with client requirements
Being responsible for the financial and technical aspects of the contract across all work
streams including procurement, invoicing, payments, cash flow and cost control.
Liaise with sub-contractors and suppliers to obtain quotations.
Minimising costs where possible, maximising value to make profit.
Preparing quotation letters to a high standard.
Prepare quotations, verify quantities, rates, and ensure total accuracy for in scope and
outside of contract opportunities.
Evaluation of costs and advise on alternative proposals.
Managing relationships with clients, contractors and colleagues.
Job cost reporting from conception to completion.
Minimum Requirements / Qualifications:
Essential
Quantity Surveyor degree or experience within a similar role
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Self-motivated
Ability to work well on own or as part of team
Proficient in the use of MS office including Excel
Full UK driving licence Methodical and analytical approach
