Townhead Surgery, Irvine have an exciting opportunity for a pharmacist prescriber to work 8-24 hours per week alongside our existing General Practice Pharmacist and wider Multi-Disciplinary Team. The hours and days of work can be flexible to suit the preferred candidate. We are a 10 GP partner training practice with approximately 12 200 patients, and operate from health-board owned premises centrally located within Ayrshire; an easy 30 minute commute from the Southside of Glasgow.
We have a dynamic and forward-thinking team; complimented by two salaried GPs, 2 Advanced Nurse Practitioners, practice nurse, general practice pharmacist and an experienced and versatile healthcare assistant team. We work very closely and harmoniously with the health board-employed pharmacy team, who have their own purpose built team base within the practice.
Townhead Surgery has years of experience of employing primary care pharmacists to work alongside our medical and nursing teams, which has greatly enhanced and complimented the care provided to our patients. We greatly value the specific expertise and knowledge that pharmacists have brought to our team and have honed the role over time. The successful candidate would benefit from this well-embedded understanding within the practice team, and mentoring from our experienced general practice pharmacist and the wider GP team.
The candidate should have achieved their Independent Prescribing Qualification; preferentially with experience of using this within minor ailments, chronic disease or contraception. They should be working towards, or wishing to work towards more advance credentials, such as the RPS portfolio. This is a patient-facing role; with face to face and telephone patient contacts; and as such excellent communication skills are essential.
We would be delighted to consider applications from pharmacists working in community, primary or secondary care. The position is envisioned as an employed and salaried role, but we would also be happy to consider a locum employment basis for the right candidate. Salary is competitive based on NHS banding which will depend on the experience and qualifications of the successful candidate.
