Overview
About The Role Are you passionate about digital content?
An opportunity has arisen to join our friendly and motivated digital team as we work together to delivery high quality online services for Crawley residents and our colleagues in the council. Our family of websites includes our main crawley.gov.uk website, a staff intranet, Invest Crawley and our self-service portal myCrawley, as well as several smaller websites including Tilgate Zoo. We work with both proprietary and open-source technology to develop websites that meet our customer’s needs and have a programme of continuous improvement and development - adding new features, carrying out content reviews and developing new websites. All of this while managing the constant flow of new and updated content, which is where you come in.
With experience in the use of content management systems, you will use your skills in writing content for the web and knowledge of best practices and accessibility standards to help maintain and update our public websites and intranet. Naturally, you will have excellent writing, editing, fact-checking and proofreading skills and will be able to use them to publish high quality content and support content improvement projects.
You will also provide support and guidance to content owners. Your excellent communication, influencing and relationship building skills will help you deal with stakeholders across multiple service areas.
You must be well organised and able to respond to the pressure of this busy role, while maintaining the critical attention to detail it requires.
Experience working with analytics, information architecture and user journeys, personas and research techniques will be a distinct advantage.
Crawley is a great place to work, with a thriving business district and excellent transport connections including nearby Gatwick Airport. We are based in our modern Town Hall which opened in 2023 and is located a short walk from the town centre and railway station.
