Major Gifts Officer
We have an exciting opportunity for a proactive and self-motivated Major Gifts Officer with outstanding decision-making and multi-tasking skills to join the dedicated Fundraising Department.
Position: 1935 Major Gifts Officer
Location: This role is nominally based in Sidmouth, Devon, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, with hybrid working options (fully remote/home working and flexible patterns considered).
Hours: Full-time, 35 hours per week, 08:30-16:30, Monday-Friday. We are also happy to consider part-time applications (28 hours over 4 days).
Salary: GBP30,515 per annum
Contract: Permanent

About the Role
As Major Gifts Officer, you will support the delivery of the Major Gifts Strategy, cultivating and stewarding a portfolio of mid-value individuals and trusts, and delivering specific projects. Working closely with the Major Gifts Managers, you will enhance supporter stewardship and cultivation activities based on capacity and propensity to donate.
Your main duties include:
1. Supporting the delivery and improvement of the Major Gifts Strategy.
2. Growing the supporter base contributing mid and major gifts through cultivation and stewardship programs.
3. Managing and attending stewardship and cultivation meetings and events, including liaising with suppliers, managing supporter lists, follow-ups, and budgets.
4. Securing, managing, and stewarding a portfolio of active donors and trusts, preparing compelling bids and reports, and maintaining strong relationships.
5. Researching current and potential donors to adopt a donor-centric approach.
6. Reporting on development and stewardship projects, fundraising targets, and KPIs.
About You
You should have experience supporting or managing mid-value or major donors, including high-value or sensitive clients. You will have:
* A proven track record of meeting and exceeding fundraising or sales targets.
* Experience working within a team with complex internal stakeholders.
* Strong interpersonal skills to build rapport and trust with donors.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including successful bid writing and report compilation.
* Strong research and prospecting abilities.
* Project and event management experience.
