Role: Cyber Security Early Engagement Architect

Job Type: Permanent

Location: London, United Kingdom

Mode of Working: Hybrid

Are you passionate about shaping cyber‑security transformation at executive level and influencing high‑stakes decisions in complex, regulated environments?

We have a great opportunity for you - Cyber Security Early Engagement Architect!

Careers at TCS: It means more

TCS is a purpose-led transformation company, built on belief. We do not just help businesses to transform through technology. We support them in making a meaningful difference to the people and communities they serve - our clients include some of the biggest brands in the UK and worldwide. For you, it means more to make an impact that matters, through challenging projects which demand ambitious innovation and thought leadership.

* Operate as a trusted advisor to senior executive stakeholders on mission‑critical cyber‑security decisions.
* Shape multi‑year cyber‑security transformation programmes in highly regulated industries.
* Influence strategy, architecture, and outcomes across complex enterprise environments.

The Role

As a Cyber Security Early Engagement Architect, you will act as a senior, client‑facing cyber authority, shaping early‑stage conversations into clear, compelling transformation visions that executive stakeholders can sponsor and fund. This is a consultative, outcome‑led role focused on building trust quickly, understanding what truly matters to the customer, and guiding them toward the right cyber‑security path. You will combine C‑suite engagement credibility with sufficient technical depth to discuss modern cyber architectures, risk, and regulatory expectations, while translating complexity into clear business outcomes. You will serve as a critical bridge between customers, sales, and delivery, ensuring that what is positioned is strategically sound, commercially viable, and operationally deliverable.

Key responsibilities:

* Establish executive‑level trust with CIOs, CISOs, COOs, Boards, and regulatory stakeholders in high‑risk and highly regulated environments.
* Lead early engagement discussions on cyber resilience, Zero Trust, identity, cloud security, data protection, and organisational cyber maturity.
* Create outcome‑led cyber‑security visions that clearly articulate “why now”, “what good looks like”, and “how to get there”.
* Translate cyber risk, regulatory exposure, and control gaps into prioritised, multi‑year transformation roadmaps.
* Design and shape enterprise‑scale cyber‑security operating models and reference architectures that are credible with technical teams and understandable at executive level.
* Demonstrate strong architectural leadership across identity and access management, SOC and cyber defence, cloud security, data and AI security, and OT/ICS environments.
* Translate regulatory and supervisory expectations into practical, implementable security capabilities rather than compliance‑only solutions.
* Act as the lead cyber authority in complex pursuits, bids, workshops, and early‑stage engagements, supporting opportunity progression through credibility and insight.
* Shape customer‑facing business cases and investment narratives aligned to executive priorities such as risk reduction, resilience, and time‑to‑value.
* Ensure continuity between what is proposed and what is delivered by maintaining architectural oversight through the transition into delivery.

Your Profile

Essential skills/knowledge/experience:

* Extensive experience in cyber security or enterprise security architecture roles.
* Background in senior roles such as Security Architect, Principal Cyber Consultant, Head of Security Architecture, CISO, or Deputy CISO.
* Proven ability to engage credibly with CxO and Board‑level stakeholders, establishing authority and trust rapidly in high‑stakes discussions.
* Strong capability to translate complex cyber‑security topics into clear, outcome‑focused executive narratives.
* Deep experience working within regulated industries and operating under supervisory scrutiny.
* Proven involvement in large‑scale cyber‑security transformation programmes, beyond point solutions or tooling implementations.
* Strong board‑level communication skills and experience dealing with significant cyber incidents or breach scenarios.
* Broad technical knowledge spanning identity‑led security, SOC and cyber defence models, cloud security, and data protection.
* Experience shaping security strategies for hybrid and multi‑cloud enterprise environments (AWS, Azure, GCP).
* Strong awareness of emerging technologies and their implications for cyber risk, compliance, and long‑term security investment.
* Strong executive presence and gravitas, with the ability to operate confidently at board and C‑suite level and under scrutiny.
* Proven ability to establish trust and credibility quickly, building and sustaining long‑term trusted‑advisor relationships.
* Vision‑led communicator able to articulate a compelling future state while remaining grounded in delivery realism.
* Pragmatic, outcome‑focused mindset that prioritises real risk reduction and business impact over compliance‑only approaches.
* Confidence to challenge decisions where risk is unacceptable, while maintaining constructive and trusted stakeholder relationships.
* High personal integrity and discretion when dealing with sensitive risk, breach, and regulatory matters.

Desirable skills/knowledge/experience:

* Knowledge of recognised standards and frameworks such as NIST CSF, NIST 800‑53, ISO/IEC 27001, and sector‑specific frameworks including NHS DSPT, FCA/PRA expectations, IEC 62443, or GxP.
* Understanding of AI security, governance, and model risk management in regulated environments.
* Awareness of post‑quantum cryptography and its impact on enterprise security strategy.
