Overview
Due to increased opportunities in the Energy & Natural Resources division, Turner & Townsend is recruiting a Project Planner to join a diverse and supportive team during a period of significant growth. Our nuclear client is at the forefront of industry-leading change. Candidates will be required to be present in our client office in Glasgow or Perth for 3 days per week.
Main purpose of role
A Planner will be responsible for work packages and projects of varying size and complexity. They will lead on planning for multiple projects within the programme of works, manage relationships between time, cost, risk, change, reporting and scope, and maintain robust schedules that provide accurate data to drive management decisions. The role ensures client objectives are met and projects are delivered to time, cost targets and quality standards.
Key Accountabilities
* Take the lead on planning, supporting more junior planning professionals on novel, high-value projects or programmes.
* Creation, development and maintenance of project schedules aligned with project requirements on complex, risk-managed projects or programmes.
* Adhere to NEC or FIDIC contract processes for management of schedule data and submissions.
* Assist the project team to develop status reports to keep management informed on project progress.
* Support senior team in day-to-day management, staffing and implementation of Integrated Project Controls standards and processes.
* Reduce uncertainty, improve efficiency and understand project objectives.
* Work with the project team to define scope of work and updates to detailed schedules, cost information and variances from the original schedule.
* Assist project managers to schedule work and coordinate assignments.
* Evaluate project schedule progress and performance and identify developing problem areas.
* Analyse float, critical path and constraints to understand the effect of changes or slippages, and recommend recovery actions.
* Undertake project progress reviews and monitor/ consolidate multiple project schedules into an Integrated Master Schedule (IMS).
* Monitor project managers' reporting system and summarize progress status of all projects; monitor and advise on project KPIs across multiple projects; understand and report Earned Value Management (EVM) on a periodic basis.
* Provide functional management of planning personnel within the Turner & Townsend team, including mentoring and coaching as required.
Qualifications
You will have professional Project Controls experience specialising in Planning & Scheduling across one or more sectors throughout the project lifecycle. Nuclear experience is desirable but not essential. Strong knowledge of Primavera (P6) and other planning/resourcing software is required, with the ability to coordinate with other teams using multidisciplinary knowledge.
You will be a strong communicator with leadership capabilities, able to influence, manage, motivate, coach and develop a diverse and inclusive team. You promote empowerment and contribution and have a passion to build a community and support network beyond delivery.
You also:
* Will be able to obtain BPSS level security clearance.
* Are a member of a relevant professional body (e.g., APM, PMI).
* Have excellent verbal and written communication skills.
* Can make risk-based decisions where parameters are unclear and judgement is needed.
* Have strong leadership, stakeholder management and conflict-resolution skills.
* Have a desire to work within the nuclear sector.
