An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer to join a well-established building services consultancy in their London or Kent office on a contract basis, operating outside IR35.
This hybrid role involves working within a multidisciplinary building services engineering team, contributing to the delivery of mechanical design solutions across a varied portfolio of projects. The successful candidate will play a key role in developing mechanical building services designs, producing technical documentation, and supporting coordinated BIM models.
Based in their London or Kent offices with flexible hybrid working, this position offers the chance to be involved in high-quality projects alongside a team of experienced engineers and consultants.
Key Responsibilities
As a Mechanical Design Engineer, your responsibilities will include:
* Delivering mechanical building services designs across a range of projects
* Producing mechanical schematics, layouts, and associated technical documentation
* Supporting project delivery across multiple RIBA design stages
* Collaborating closely with electrical engineers, structural engineers, and architects
* Assisting with BIM coordination and integration of multidisciplinary designs
* Preparing and reviewing technical drawings and design calculations
* Contributing to successful project delivery in line with quality, programme, and technical standards
Requirements
To be considered for this role, you should have:
* Demonstrable experience as a Mechanical Design Engineer within the building services sector
* Strong understanding of mechanical building services systems
* Experience producing design calculations and technical drawings
* Proven experience working within multidisciplinary engineering teams
* Excellent communication and coordination skills
* Ability to support projects across multiple RIBA stages
Desirable Skills
* Experience with Revit or other BIM modelling software
* Familiarity with Navisworks
* Experience working on commercial, hotel and mixed-use developments
