The College is seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and motivated Duke of Edinburgh Award (DofE) Coordinator to lead and manage the College’s Duke of Edinburgh Award provision. The successful applicant will be required to work with students to support their progress towards achieving the Duke of Edinburgh Gold Award. The post holder will be required to maintain equipment and high standards of health and safety and work with an Adventurous Activities Provider (AAP) to deliver the expedition component.
The post is available from 26 August 2025 on a permanent, part-time, term-time only basis. The post holder will work one day per week for 6 hours per day on site to enable face-to-face sessions with students (234 hours per year). There is some flexibility about the specific day, but the day must remain consistent throughout the academic year. In addition, there will be 150-hours allocated on an annual basis to coordinate and attend all the training and expeditions. The expeditions for the forthcoming academic year are:
* Training Weekend 9 and 10 May 2026 – 2 days
* Practice Expedition 22 to 25 May 2026 – 4 days, 3 nights
* Qualifying Expedition 3 to 7 July 2026 – 5 days, 4 nights
The dates vary slightly each year but are normally around the same time.
The post requires commitment and flexibility in the approach to work and excellent time management skills. Previous experience of working with teenagers is essential. The post holder will spend a significant amount of the working day interacting with students, so the ability to feel confident in the presence of and communicating with young adults is essential. The role requires experience of the DofE Award Scheme and expedition coordination.
