Role: Fabrication & Powder Coating Operative

Reports To: Production Manager
Purpose / Objective
To ensure that all products and services supplied by UKSD are produced to specification, safely, and in accordance with the requirements agreed with the customer.
Scope
This process begins when the Fabricator receives the manufacturing drawings and instructions from Design and ends when the product has been manufactured, powder coated (where required), and installed.
Key Fabrication Job-Specific Duties
* Check manufacturing drawings for accuracy, dimensions, and quantities.
* Produce cutting lists where training has been provided.
* Notify the Buyer of material requirements.
* Assist with decisions on rejected goods (rework, accept, or return to supplier).
* Collate and organize materials required for fabrication, including unloading deliveries.
* Clearly identify materials/sub-assemblies with the applicable project number.
* Select, measure, cut, machine, and assemble aluminium extrusions, parts, and hardware in line with specifications.
* Safely organize and load materials, doors, and frames for dispatch (installation, powder coating, or other deliveries).
* Operate forklift trucks only if trained/licensed.
* Operate machinery (CNC, Saw, End Miller, etc.) only if training has been completed.
Key Powder Coating Job-Specific Duties
* Carry out electrostatic powder coating of aluminium profiles and doors to a high standard.
* Maintain spray guns, booths, and equipment as instructed.
* Prepare and jig products for powder coating.
* Operate industrial curing ovens safely.
* Correctly identify, pick, and return powder boxes.
* Manage and control stock of aluminium profiles and powder.
* Assist with assembly of doors/frames when required.
* Ensure high-quality finishes at all times.
* Forklift licence desirable.
* Follow all Health & Safety procedures.
General Duties
* Ensure compliance with company procedures (Health & Safety, Environmental, Quality, Legal).
* Maintain high housekeeping standards across premises, equipment, and vehicles.
* Display a proactive, problem-solving attitude with a "right first time" culture.
* Recommend resources or training to support future operational needs.
* Communicate clearly and concisely with stakeholders.
* Carry out additional duties as required by management.
* Use PPE appropriately, reporting any defects immediately.
* Undertake on-site work when required.
* Do not operate machinery or equipment without appropriate training.
Performance Measures
* Delivery of projects on time and within budget.
* Quality of workmanship (dimension accuracy, neatness, flush joints, scratch-free finish).
* Improvement of profit margins through efficiency.
* Number of non-conformance reports/failures.
* Positive feedback from stakeholders.
* Accuracy and timeliness of administration.
* Housekeeping standards.
* Contribution to continuous improvement initiatives.
* Compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
* Reduction in rework, warranty claims, and customer complaints.

Pay: £12.21-£13.00 per hour
