Moorlands School is a very happy, small school with a great big heart. It is an independent prep school for children aged 2-11, offering a nurturing environment that emphasises both academic excellence and personal development. Pupils leave Moorlands as confident, independent, and articulate individuals, ready to face new challenges.
Leadership Opportunity: Headteacher
With the planned retirement of the current Headteacher, the Governors are seeking to appoint a new Headteacher who is an inspiring leader with a strong commitment to excellence. The ideal candidate will share the school's passion for creating a supportive, inclusive, and ambitious environment where both pupils and staff can thrive.
Moorlands, founded in 1898 and relocated to North Leeds in 1967, became a full member of the Methodist Independent Schools Trust (MIST) in 2022. The campus features extensive facilities, including spacious grounds, a large sports hall, and a heated indoor swimming pool. The new Headteacher will lead a highly qualified staff committed to the school's progress and success.
School Values and Culture
The school's motto, ‘Intrepide!’, embodies values of being Inclusive, Independent, Industrious, Inquisitive, and an Individual. The school fosters a culture of bravery and adventure, encouraging students to try new things and face challenges confidently. The Headteacher must embody and promote these values through their leadership.
Candidate Profile
The successful candidate will have a creative educational vision, strategic leadership experience at senior levels, and the ability to develop and implement a clear direction for the school. Essential qualities include strong interpersonal skills, resilience, energy, creativity, and commercial awareness. Experience in marketing and financial understanding is also desirable.
