Job Details
We are looking for a committed Pupil Support Assistant (2) who is passionate about improving life chances for all, so that children and young people can achieve their full potential. As a Pupil Support Assistant (2), you will work under the supervision of a class teacher or senior staff to support children and young people requiring additional assistance.
You will be required to:
1. Support pupils/children individually, in class, or in small groups in areas of learning and personal development.
2. Contribute information to update planning and review processes for individual pupils/children.
3. Supervise pupil/child self-administration of medication, offering a high level of personal care to enable the pupil/child to function fully, including toileting, administering medication as per training, and encouraging independence.
4. Implement support programmes designed by visiting specialists, such as speech and language therapists, physiotherapists, or occupational therapists.
5. Support pupil/child mobility on an emergency or short-term basis, including toileting or supporting injuries like a broken leg, following moving and handling training.
The Person
You should have good interpersonal skills to work effectively as part of a team and ensure positive outcomes for all children and young people.
Experience supporting young people with additional needs is essential.
You must be able to register with the SSSC within 6 months of employment (applicable to Early Learning Centres, Primary, and Special Schools) and complete the required Post Registration Training and Learning (PRTL) during your registration period.
Qualifications include:
* 2 National 5s, or 2 Standard Grades General, or 2 O Grades, or equivalent (SCQF Level 4 or above).
* For Early Learning Centres/Primary and Special Schools: NC in Early Education and Childcare at SCQF Level 6, or SVQ Social Services (Children and Young People) at SCQF Level 6, or a Professional Development Award in Education Support Assistance at SCQF Level 6, or equivalent, with a commitment to achieve the required registration.
* Good IT skills.
