Job Title: Teaching Assistant

Leader Education are recruiting a Teaching Assistant to join an alternative provision in Gateshead.
In this role, you will support learners from Year 7 to Year 11 who have transitioned from mainstream education due to social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs, behavioural challenges, or low-level or unidentified special educational needs and disabilities (SEND). You will play a vital role in helping pupils re-engage with learning, build confidence, and develop the skills they need to succeed.
With access to in-house mental health specialists, the setting focuses on successful reintegration into mainstream education where possible, or guiding learners towards the most appropriate pathways to achieve their future goals.
The normal working pattern is Monday-Friday 8:30 until 16:30 and is a long-term position.

The successful candidate will:
* Have a fully enhanced DBS on the update service or a willingness to obtain one
* Be able to work alongside pupils with SEMH and behavioural needs
* Work with pupils on a 1:1 basis and in a group setting, communicating effectively
* Work effectively with parents, carers, and other members of multidisciplinary teams to provide the best support
* Be flexible and resilient
* Possess communication skills that can be personalised to suit students of different abilities
* Possess good classroom skills
