Job Description
We are seeking an experienced Family Law Solicitor to join our practice on a fee-sharing or consultancy basis for maternity cover. While the role is initially intended to cover maternity leave, there is potential for the position to continue beyond the maternity cover. This role offers flexibility and would suit someone looking for a part‑time position or fixed‑term contract. Informal hybrid working arrangements can be discussed to suit the right candidate.
You will ideally be a 5+ years PQE solicitor with a strong working knowledge of all areas of family law, including divorce and separation, financial matters, domestic abuse, and private children law.
The role would suit either:
* a practitioner who can work independently initially with a view to building their own caseload or
* a practitioner who works independently and already has an established caseload and client following and is looking for a flexible, fee‑sharing opportunity.
You must be confident working independently, able to manage your own files, prioritise effectively under pressure, and meet deadlines.
The Role (Part‑Time / Flexible)
* Managing a mixed caseload across divorce, financial remedy, and private law children matters
* Providing clear, pragmatic advice while maintaining strong client relationships
* Drafting applications, statements, consent orders, and other legal documents
* Preparing cases for hearings and representing clients where appropriate
* Liaising professionally with courts, counsel, and third parties
* Ensuring compliance with all regulatory and procedural requirements
* Contributing to the wider team through collaboration and knowledge sharing
* Additional language skills would be advantageous, particularly Urdu, Bengali, Punjabi, Hindi or Arabic, due to our diverse client base who predominantly speak these languages.
* Qualified Solicitor ideally with 5+ years’ experience in family law
* You must be confident working independently
* Comfortable working on a fee‑sharing basis, including bringing and managing your own caseload, if applicable
* Proven experience managing files with minimal supervision
* Ambitious and proactive mindset a genuine opportunity for the right candidate
* Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills
* Confident use of Microsoft Office and case management systems
* Client‑centered, practical, and solutions‑driven approach
