The University of Nottingham is seeking to appoint a Clinical Associate Professor in Mood Disorders with clinical duties as Honorary Consultant at our partner NHS Foundation Trust, Nottinghamshire Healthcare.

This post is offered to enhance our world-leading research and to provide exceptional clinical care in Adult Mood Disorders, as part of the new Mental Health-Translational Research Collaborations - Mission clinics. You will be a clinical academic with a track‑record in research aligned to Mood Disorders. You will contribute to the strategic research goals of the School of Medicine by developing and maintaining an internationally excellent research programme that will have a demonstrable impact on the care and wellbeing of patients. The post provides an excellent opportunity to combine clinical work, research and teaching.

The major purposes of this role are to:

* Develop and maintain an internationally excellent research programme aligned to the research strategies of the School of Medicine, attracting external funding to strategically grow mood disorders research
* Deliver high quality teaching to undergraduate and postgraduate students and contribute to the development of undergraduate and postgraduate education
* Contribute to the collegiate needs of the School of Medicine, Faculty and University
* Provide clinical services in Mood Disorders in the Nottinghamshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust working within an Honorary Consultant Contract.

The role is a clinical academic position with a 50:50 split between University and NHS duties. You will have a primary research commitment in conjunction with teaching and clinical service responsibilities.

The post is offered full time or less than full time (minimum 0.8 FTE). Your academic duties will be based within the Academic Unit of Mental Health and Clinical Neurosciences in the University of Nottingham’s School of Medicine, Institute of Mental Health. Your clinical duties will be based in the Nottingham Specialist Depression Service (NSDS), focusing on the new Nottingham Research and Advice for Depression (NRAD) clinic, which delivers services across Nottinghamshire.

You will already have been awarded a Higher Research Degree i.e. PhD or MD/DM. It is a requirement that you maintain your GMC Registration with a licence to practice and undertake clinical practice in the NRAD and NSDS clinics, Nottinghamshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust.

Requests for secondment from internal candidates may be considered on the basis that prior agreement has been sought from both your current line manager and the manager of your substantive post, if you are already undertaking a secondment role.
