We have an excellent opportunity for a Mechanical Technician to join our Maintenance team at our Coppermills Water Treatment Site.
As a successful candidate, you will be using your mechanical knowledge and experience to inspect, maintain, fault diagnose, test, install, modify or repair as appropriate mechanical plant and associated electrical equipment, in a safe efficient timely and effective manner with minimum supervision allowing us to ensure that all of our sites remain operational for the benefits of our customers.

What you’ll be doing as the Mechanical Technician
* Investigate plant failures and perform repairs as quickly and efficiently as possible to avoid interruptions to the process. This may involve investigating and diagnosing complex faults and performing repairs during incidents.
* Provide technical advice, refer to up-to-date technical knowledge, and provide training or support for technical trainees if required.
* Work on equipment such as motors, gearboxes, screw /chain conveyors & centrifuges, various pumps, and associated control gear, 3-phase motors, starters and controls, electronic control systems such as VSD, automatic valves, flow, level and pressure measurement, variable speed drives and controls, chemical handling, and dosing equipment.
* Complete statutory checks as required.
* Always work safely and comply with all Health and Safety guidance and procedures.
Base Location: Coppermills – East London – E17 7HE
Working Pattern: 38 Hours Monday‑Friday 7:30 am – 3:36 pm plus standby & overtime opportunity increasing earnings by a potential £8,000‑£10,000.
All PPE, Tools and Van are Provided.
What you should bring to the role
* Time‑served apprentice with significant experience in mechanical/electrical systems or with NVQ or C&G level 3 in mechanical engineering.
* A problem solver, able to identify potential issues and implement solutions, or to escalated if required.
* An excellent communicator, providing technical expertise to internal and external staff and contractors.
* Resilient, adapting to pressures of work and working in a constantly changing environment.
* Ability to work with minimum supervision, under own initiative to design and standards.
* Knowledge and awareness of Health and Safety issues relevant to the industry.
* Team player who can work in many different teams, showing respect for others, providing helpful feedback and supporting development of others.
* Full UK driving licence.
