Role
The Student Advice and Communities team is looking to recruit a motivated individual to join the team to support our contribution to the delivery of targeted support and bespoke initiatives for under-represented student groups, as agreed in our Access and Participation Plan.
You will play a key role in enabling the delivery of our Access and Participation plan through a range of transition events such as the Step Ahead induction organised by the Student Advice and Communities Team, help students develop a sense of belonging and identity early on in their studies which in turn supports their success at University.
Close collaboration with colleagues will be essential in this role in order to ensure that a holistic, student centred approach is adopted. You will also assist with general administrative support for the team’s work with students from under-represented groups, such as the Student Buddying scheme; smaller events and sending regular communications to targeted student groups.
Skills, Experience & Qualifications Needed
1. Knowledge of the needs of vulnerable and/or under-represented student groups in higher education
2. Knowledge and understanding of Access and Participation in higher education and issues affecting different groups
3. A proactive approach and the ability to use initiative in problem solving and developing service opportunities with an appreciation of possible longer-term implications
4. Excellent teamwork and interpersonal skills, conveying a positive attitude and confidence in working with a wide range of people
5. Works collaboratively with others
6. Level 2 qualification including Maths and English. (Qualifications at this level include five GCSEs at grade A*-C/ grade 4-9. Please view the full list.) We also welcome applicants with equivalent non-UK qualifications or equivalent professional experience.
