Thepurpose of the role is to offergeneral assistance to the practice team and project a positive and friendlyimage to patients and other visitors, either in person or via the telephone. Receive,assist and direct patients in accessing the appropriate service or healthcareprofessional in a courteous, efficient and effective way. Undertakea variety of administrative duties to assist in the smooth running of the practiceincluding the provision of clerical support to clinical staff and other membersof the practice team. Facilitateeffective communication between patients, members the primary health care team,secondary care and other associated healthcare agencies. Withinthis progression we are expecting the successful candidate to directlysupervise and develop initiatives to smarter working practices which provideoptimum service delivery to our patients.

Openingup/locking-up of practice premises and maintaining security in accordance withPractice protocols. Appropriate signposting and care navigation using national/local guidelines and proceduresProcessingpersonal and telephone requests for appointments, visits and telephoneconsultations and ensuring callers are directed to the appropriate healthcare professionalTakingmessages and passing on informationGeneralAdministration,filing and retrieving paperworkProcessingacute /repeat prescriptions and reviews in accordance with practice guidelinesComputerdata entry/data allocation and collation, processing and recording informationin accordance with practice proceduresInitiatingcontact with and responding to requests from patients, other team member andassociated healthcare agencies and providersEnsurean effective and efficient reception service is provided to patients and anyother visitors to the practice.Dealwith all general enquiries, explain procedures and make new and follow-upappointmentsExplainpractice arrangements and formal requirements to new patients and those seekingtemporary cover and ensure procedures are completed.Dealingwith feedback at local resolution and referring to complaints procedures whenappropriate.Receiveand make telephone calls as required. Divert calls and take messages, ensuring accuracy of detail and promptappropriate delivery.
