About the Role
The Prescot School is looking for an enthusiastic and energetic technician to support the staff and pupils within the Design Technology, Art and Photography faculty. The technician will provide high quality technical support to staff and students within the Design Technology, Art and Photography areas; responsibilities would include:
1. Maintaining high quality teaching environments.
2. Running and maintaining the technology used in Design Technology, Art and Photography.
3. General maintenance of equipment.
4. Ordering equipment and materials for Design Technology, Art and Photography.
5. General administrative tasks.
The Technician must be able to work both independently and as part of a team, show initiative and enthusiasm for Design Technology, Art and Photography and enjoy working with students. A strong working knowledge of a range of Design Technology techniques (e.g. Graphics, Resistant Materials) with a level 2 qualification in a relevant subject area or relevant experience is essential, as well as knowledge in the use of IT and/or willingness to learn about CAD/CAM.
Personal Qualities
We are looking for someone who:
1. Has an NVQ Level 2 or above in a related subject or equivalent experience.
2. Is Computer Literate (all areas within the faculty require the use of IT; training for specialist programs can be provided).
3. Has experience in using Design Technology, Art and Photography equipment and machinery, including pillar drills, band and circular saws, sewing machines, DSLR, etc., as well as experience/knowledge of CAD/CAM.
4. Has knowledge and understanding of relevant health and safety risks in the Design Technology, Art and Photography areas, preferably with a relevant H&S qualification.
5. Has good communication and interpersonal skills to give technical advice and guidance to others, both spoken and in writing, and build effective working relationships with pupils and staff across the school.
6. Is able to work on own initiative.
