The Health Visiting Service delivers the Healthy Child Programme which supports families with a new baby or a child aged under five-years-old. Working together with families, we develop individual family health plans to help meet family’s needs. We provide advice and support on; growth, physical and emotional development and learning through play; breastfeeding; introducing solid foods and healthy eating; Immunisations; common infections, skin problems and minor illnesses in children; such as teething, temper tantrums, sleeping, eating and toilet training; Postnatal depression, bereavement and violence in the family; reducing accidents in the home; safeguarding children and families.
Main duties of the job
In your role, you will be a core member of the Dartford Health Visiting team based at Regus, where you support children and families in their local area delivering clinics in local Family Hubs and community venues. Public Health Assistants will work under the supervision of Senior Public Health Assistants and health visiting colleagues to support the delivery NHS provided services to both Children and Adults.
For noting: Regus is just our office base. You will not be delivering clinics here. You will be expected to travel and deliver from Family Hubs across Dartford throughout the week for all client contacts/face to face service delivery.

Qualifications, training and experience
Essential criteria
1. Qualifications and Credit Framework (QCF) Level 3. This could be an NVQ Level 3 apprenticeship, BTEC or equivalent international qualification in healthcare.•)
2. Functional Skills at Level 2 (Literacy and numeracy/ GCSE grade A-C/ 4-9 or equivalent in English and Maths

4. Sound communication skills in order to understand and communicate both verbally and in writing whilst being mindful of potential language and cultural difficulties
5. An awareness of developments within the NHS
6. Fully understand the role and remit of a public health assistant
7. Knowledge of up to date clinical practice by using up- to- date skills and adhering to evidence-based procedures and clinical effectiveness frameworks
8. Able to remain professional, work well under pressure and organise your own work in order to prioritise care delivery in line with trust policies and procedures
9. Able to be able to use IT systems and databases
