Overview
We are inviting applications for Physiotherapists to cover 12 months in the LSCIC Therapy Team. This is a great opportunity for someone who would like to extend their service development and clinical spinal cord injury expertise. Secondments for those looking to enhance their skills and take them back to their existing working environment will be considered.
Responsibilities
* Manage a caseload of inpatients and outpatient treatment episodes as part of our lifelong MDT service to those with Spinal Cord Injury (SCI).
* Work with our 32 inpatients who may be located in Critical Care, the Children and Young Person’s Ward, or the adult Spinal Cord Injury Centre.
* Provide treatment at the bedside, in the therapy gym, Horatio’s Garden, and across our site in the fitness suite, sports hall, swimming and hydrotherapy pools.
* Deliver daily 1:1 sessions with inpatients, supplemented by group sessions and additional exercise sessions supported by Band 4 support workers.
* Share knowledge and skills through supervision of staff and students; provide training to Physiotherapists and other MDT members within the LSCIC, the Trust, and externally.
* Contribute to service development and departmental leadership within the London Spinal Cord Injury Centre Physiotherapy Department, influencing delivery of our specialist service.
* Engage in service evaluation and audit projects; participate in current research projects hosted in the department.
Facilities and Equipment
* Access to a wide range of upper- and lower-motor neurone electrical stimulation devices including FES bikes and the Xcite.
* Body weight support apparatus including gantries, AlterG, and Vector Gait; a variety of standing devices.
Qualifications and Experience
* Great communicator with existing expertise in the management of neurological dysfunction and experience in managing SCI.

Additional Information
There is a broad scope to be part of the senior team managing the London Spinal Cord Injury Centre Physiotherapy Department and influence the delivery of our specialist service.
