About the Role
Weâre expanding our team and looking for a Senior Service Designer with the drive and empathy to shape meaningful, human-centred experiences across the UK Public Sector.
Youâll join a collaborative, multidisciplinary team where design, strategy, and technology meet to solve societyâs most complex challenges - from improving citizen services to reimagining digital infrastructure for government.
Our mission: to advance the human experience through design.
We do this by partnering with public organisations to deliver services that are inclusive, effective, and emotionally resonant.
What Youâll Do
As a Service Designer, youâll lead end-to-end design engagements - from discovery through delivery - ensuring services are designed around real user needs and policy intent.
You will:
* Partner directly with public sector clients, collaborating across design, policy, and delivery teams.
* Lead user-centred design approaches across all stages of projects, from initial research to service realisation.
* Plan, conduct, and synthesise user research and usability testing to uncover actionable insights.
* Analyse existing service ecosystems and identify opportunities for improvement through analytics and benchmarking.
* Orchestrate co-creation workshops with stakeholders, partners, and end users.
* Ideate and visualise future-state journeys, service blueprints, and prototypes that meet user and policy goals.
* Communicate ideas clearly through storytelling, visualisation, and prototyping.
* Collaborate within agile, cross-functional teams - including researchers, designers, technologists, and strategists.
* Manage design processes, milestones, and resources effectively across multiple streams.
* Share best practices, mentor others, and champion user-centricity across projects.
What Weâre Looking For
Youâre a curious, strategic designer who thrives in complex systems and knows how to balance user needs with organisational realities. Youâre equally comfortable facilitating workshops as you are crafting blueprints that guide delivery.
Essential skills and experience
* Proven experience delivering end-to-end service design projects, ideally within or for government.
* Strong knowledge of GDS (Government Digital Service) standards and service design principles.
* Skilled at creating artefacts such as service blueprints, user journeys, personas, and service concepts.
* Understanding of accessibility and inclusive design for diverse and complex user groups.
* Experience facilitating workshops, design sprints, or co-creation sessions.
* Confident visual communicator - able to simplify complexity for different audiences.
* Comfortable working in agile environments with cross-functional teams.
* Strong stakeholder management and communication skills; able to balance competing priorities.
* Naturally inquisitive, proactive, and outcome-oriented; thrives in ambiguity.
* Advocate for user-centric design, turning insights into actionable service improvements.
* Hold or be eligible for Security Check (SC) Clearance.
Why Join Us
* Remote-first culture with flexibility and autonomy.
* Work on nation-wide projects that make a tangible impact on peopleâs lives.
* Collaborate with an interdisciplinary team of designers, strategists, and technologists.
* Access to a supportive learning environment focused on growth and innovation.
* Occasional travel for co-creation sessions, research, or team meet-ups.
