Job Title: Senior Environmental Consultant (Maternity Cover)

Job Purpose:
The Senior Environmental Consultant will support the delivery of environmental consultancy services and environmental compliance projects for a range of clients. The role involves managing environmental projects, providing technical expertise on environmental regulations and assessments, and supporting the successful integration of environmental management solutions within client organisations. The successful candidate will lead project delivery, prepare environmental reports, ensure regulatory compliance, and support client relationships while mentoring junior team members. This position is offered as a maternity leave cover starting in August 2026, with the possibility of becoming a permanent role depending on business needs and performance.
Key Responsibilities:
Project Leadership
* Lead and manage environmental projects from initiation through to completion.
* Coordinate site investigations, environmental risk assessments, and remediation strategies.
* Act as a key point of contact between internal teams and clients to ensure smooth project delivery.
Technical Expertise
* Provide specialist advice on environmental regulations, impact assessments, and permitting processes.
* Support environmental compliance initiatives across client projects.
Report Preparation
* Prepare and review environmental documentation including Environmental Impact Assessment Reports (EIARs), EIA Screening Reports, and Resource & Waste Management Plans.
Client and Stakeholder Management
* Liaise with clients, regulatory authorities, and key stakeholders.
* Participate in meetings, consultations, and project discussions as required.
Mentorship and Training
* Provide guidance and mentoring to junior team members.
* Support knowledge sharing and development of environmental best practices within the team.
Business Development
* Contribute to proposal preparation and support client relationship management activities.
* Help identify opportunities for service improvements and business growth.
Compliance and Permitting
* Ensure projects meet relevant environmental legislation and regulatory requirements.
* Assist with environmental permit applications and compliance processes.
Environmental Audits
* Conduct and support environmental, health, and safety compliance audits where required.
Travel and Representation
* Attend client meetings, site visits, and industry events across Ireland and the UK when required.

* Regulatory Knowledge: Familiarity with EU and Irish environmental legislation and its application.
Qualifications & Experience:
* Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related discipline (postgraduate qualification desirable).
* Minimum of 5 years' experience working in the environmental sector.
* Proven experience in environmental consultancy.
* Demonstrated experience in environmental assessments, impact studies, and regulatory compliance.
* Membership of relevant professional bodies such as CIWEM, IEMA, or similar is advantageous.
Additional Requirements:
* Willingness to travel to project sites and client locations when required.
* Ability to work effectively in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
* Full driving licence valid for use in Ireland.
