Job title: Sous Chef
Location: Oldbury
Hours: 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday 7:00am to 3:00pm
Salary: £15.39 per hour + Sodexo employee benefits package. Meals included on shift. Free parking onsite and uniform supplied. Opportunities for career development.
What You'll Do
* Lead and motivate the catering team to deliver great service and high-quality food at all times.
* Ensure compliance with food safety, health & safety and company standards, achieving strong audit results.
* Support financial performance by managing stock, driving sales, and controlling costs.
* Work with the team to refresh and update the food offer, keeping it innovative and customer-focused.
* Walk the floor and lead by example, maintaining visibility during service periods.
* Coach, train, and develop staff, building a motivated and high-performing team.
* Support across multiple sites where needed to ensure consistency of service.
* Contribute to business planning, marketing initiatives, and continuous improvement.
What You'll Bring
* Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and develop a team.
* Excellent knowledge of food safety and health & safety standards.
* Commercial awareness with experience in managing stock, GP, and sales growth.
* Ability to be flexible — including covering night shifts when required.
* A proactive, hands-on approach and commitment to delivering high standards.
* A full driving licence and access to a car (mileage paid).
Desirable experience
* Previous experience as a Sous Chef or in a similar senior kitchen role.
* Experience working within a contract catering or multi-site environment.
* Knowledge of COSHH and audit compliance.
