About the Role
Engineering Surveying Technician – Net Zero Teesside (NZT) project, Redcar and Cleveland. The role supports the Engineering Surveying Team throughout construction, handling survey tasks and ensuring data accuracy.
Responsibilities
* Mentor and train less experienced surveyors.
* Plan and install control points.
* Produce as‑built drawings from survey data using survey‑specific software.
* Store and maintain survey equipment and consumables.
* Execute delegated survey activities as part of a team or independently with minimal supervision.
* Conduct independent survey checks at key construction stages.
* Collect, process, and deliver survey data in agreed formats.
* Provide daily site briefings to less experienced surveyors.
* Identify hazards, raise observation cards, and enforce safe working practices.
* Perform routine checks and validations on survey equipment per company standards.
* Execute supplementary site POWRs for own working activities.
* Maintain accurate site records.
* Supply site engineers with information derived from design deliverables (schedules, digital models, drawings).
Qualifications – Essential
* Commitment and punctuality.
* Effective communication and teamwork skills.
* Familiarity with latest survey equipment, GNSS networks, and emerging technologies.
* Full UK manual driving licence.
* Keen to learn and develop within the Survey Team.
* Previous experience and knowledge in surveying activities (control, monitoring, topographical surveys, setting out).
* Proficient in IT applications.
* Strong focus on Health & Safety.
* Valid CSCS card.
Qualifications – Desirable
* CAA‑recognised drone operator qualifications (GVC and/or A2 CofC).
* Experience surveying on civil engineering projects.
* Experience with survey‑specific software (e.g., 3DR, N4CE, Infinity, SiteScan).
* First Aid at Work qualification.
* Membership of a relevant professional body or professional qualification, ideally RICS or CICES.
* Site Supervisors’ Safety Training Scheme (SSSTS).
