We are looking for a research associate to play a leading role in developing the 'Housing for Thalidomide Survivors' project – a first-of-its-kind study into the housing needs and aspiration of older people affected by the Thalidomide scandal.
This study, funded by The Thalidomide Trust, aims to provide evidence to support the develop real-world programmes to aid those affected by Thalidomide, as well as contributing to emerging debates about how society can better support older people to live well in their homes and communities.
What you'll do
The successful applicant will work with the Principal Investigator to develop and deliver a mixed methods qualitative research project, working alongside The Thalidomide Trust and its beneficiaries to co-design an inclusive and engaging research approach. The project will be a unique opportunity to collaborate with a national charitable trust to develop impactful research, while also contributing to important research and policy agenda.
Who we're looking for
We are looking for an academic who is independent and collaborative, with a desire and aptitude for working in participatory research settings.
Ideal candidates would:
* Hold a PhD, or currently working towards a PhD, in an appropriate field of study
* Possess sufficient breadth and depth of knowledge in architecture, housing studies, sociology and/or critical disability studies
* Have experience in undertaking qualitative research, and working with co-researchers on collaborative projects.
* Have ability to prepare research reports and present findings to both academic and lay audiences.
