Currently looking for a Buyer for the stacks team who will ensure the smooth and seamless delivery of Assembly components and/or Buy/Resell products promptly, within Company parameters, and meeting Company targets. The stacks team often produces unique products for a diverse range of projects across power generation, distribution, drive technologies, and shipping to global markets. Each of these products will have a unique BOM that the Buyer will need to source, obtain quotations, and manage the PR to PO process from both new and existing suppliers.
About the position:
1. Interpret demand messages from our MRP and prepare and issue purchase orders by company policy.
2. Work with our Design and Engineering teams to manage new component quotations from suppliers to enable accurate quotations to customers.
3. Work closely with our Procurement Professional to maximize new supplier development and cost reduction activities.
4. Work alongside our Trade Compliance Team to ensure accurate information is loaded into the system.
5. Manage supplier order books ensuring the highest level of on-time delivery achieved.
6. Negotiate Terms and Conditions with suppliers within the company guidelines.
7. Develop good working relationships with suppliers to resolve issues in an efficient and timely manner and to actively seek improved service levels – cost, payment terms, lead times etc.
8. Work with internal and external stakeholders to reduce inventory levels.
9. Work closely with Customer Service / Planning to ensure deadlines are achieved.
About you:
10. 3+ years of purchasing experience in a similar role.
11. Ability to interpret technical drawings.
12. A willingness to question processes and look for improvements.
13. An understanding of MRP and ERP systems.
14. Competent in standard MS packages (Excel, Word, etc.).
15. Excellent communication & negotiation skills.
16. Understanding of Incoterms, Commodity codes, Country of Origin, and import duty.
17. Ability to read Technical Drawings
18. Fluency in English
