Senior Underwriter & Team Leader - Marine Cargo Insurance
A leading global Marine Cargo insurer is seeking an experienced Senior Underwriter & Team Leader to join its high-performing team based in Maidstone, Kent.
This is a rare opportunity to step into a hybrid role combining technical underwriting leadership with team management responsibilities, within a company known for its strength in the Cargo, Freight and Engineering insurance markets.

The Role
Underwriting Responsibilities:
* Own and pro activelymanage a portfolio of large and complex Cargo&Freight risks.
* Develop strong trading relationships with key intermediaries and clients.
* Deliver quick and effective underwriting decisions in line with trading strategy and risk appetiteoperating with a solutionsfocussed approach.
* Support and develop less experienced underwriters with technical guidance and mentorshipto build confidence and trading ability.
* Play a pivotal role in creating and shaping development plans for the product and the overall market proposition.
Team Leadership & Operations:
* Lead and managing the day to day running of a team of Marine professionals providing guidance and support to deliver exceptional service to customers.
* Be the first point of contact for Underwriting referrals and customer engagement utilising effective delegation to ensure the smooth running of the operation.
* Manage the team to deliver strong performances whilst creating a great place to work.
* Implement new initiatives and operational improvements.
What You'll Bring
* Proven Senior Level experience in Cargoand Freight underwriting.
* Strong technical knowledge and understanding of trading principles.
* Excellent Relationshipmanagement skills and familiarity with the UK broker marketand an extensive network of industry contacts.
* Supervisory or mentoring experience (or a clear appetite to step into this).
* Progress towards Dip CII / ACII preferred.
