To act as a specialist resource on all aspects of pain management and related symptom control, using research to underpin clinical practice.
Co-ordinate patient care and treatments ensuring patients receive timely and appropriate care, providing specialist psychological support and education for both patients and their carers ensuring that information is current, and evidence based using biopsychosocial approach.
Main duties of the job
Some of the main duties and responsibilities are -
With support from Band 7 /clinical lead manage a caseload of patients, providing nursing care, documenting interventions and working independently within the multidisciplinary team.
Act as the specialist nurse resource and first line contact for patients, their families and health professionals.
Work clinically as part of the ward teams to care for patients with complex needs including peritoneal malignancy and chronic pain
To support colleagues in clinical teaching and professional standards
Carry out comprehensive assessment of patient nursing needs
Maintain accurate patient records of clinical observations and outcomes
