Mechanical Fitter. Location: Bristol. Salary: £35,100 per annum. Type of position: permanent. Working hours: 37.5 hours per week Monday to Friday. Overview
We are now seeking to recruit a Mechanical Fitter for a busy manufacturing company based in Bristol. The appropriate candidate will be involved in the building of commercial vehicles.
Responsibilities
- Fit and fabricate metal components and structures according to specifications and drawings.
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, diagrams and specifications to ensure accurate fabrication and production.
- Operate various metal‑working equipment, including cutting machines, vertical drilling, bending machines and grinders.
- Assemble and install mechanical components and structures.
- Work to engineering drawings.
- Make measurements using engineering measurement instruments such as engineer's square, vernier caliper, micrometer, gauges, DTI, angle finder etc.
Qualifications & Experience
- Previous experience in fitting and fabricating.
- Proven track record of producing high‑quality mechanical components.
- Strong knowledge of precision fitting and fabricating techniques, including the use of measuring equipment.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, diagrams and specifications.
- Excellent hand‑eye coordination and manual dexterity.
- Physical stamina to work in a fast‑paced, changing environment.
- Preferable but non‑essential experience in vehicle body building.
- Experience in welding techniques also advantageous.
