Offer description

Overview

The current opportunity is available for current Manchester Met students, to apply you must be based in the UK for the duration of the role. This role offers several students the opportunity to work alongside academics and businesses to support the delivery of a Living Lab event. A Living Lab is an interactive space where businesses test early ideas, products, or services with real users. During the event, businesses will present prototypes, concepts, or business challenges. Members of the public will interact with these and provide feedback, helping businesses understand what works, what could be improved, and how users respond to their ideas. As a Living Lab Facilitator, you will help run these activities by introducing participating businesses and their prototypes, guiding participants through feedback activities, and collecting insights from the sessions. The information gathered will help businesses refine their products and services. This is a great opportunity for students interested in innovation, entrepreneurship, research, and stakeholder engagement, and who want experience supporting a real-world innovation event.

* Assist in facilitating Living Lab activities during the week commencing 20 April 2026.
* Support the logistical coordination of Living Lab activities and event operations.

Hours of Work

The role will begin one week before the event, when students will attend an in-person induction and briefing in the Business School. This session will introduce the Living Lab concept and explain what is expected of facilitators during the event. Some additional preparation work may be required during that week. No prior experience with Living Labs is required. However, students should be comfortable speaking with participants and have an approachable and communicative manner. During the Living Lab event week (20-24 April 2026), students will work up to 2-5 hours per day, subject to demand.

Manchester Metropolitan University is committed to supporting the rights, responsibilities, dignity, health and wellbeing of staff and students through our commitment to equity, diversity and inclusion.
