Offer description

Do you have a caring nature? Are you looking to make a difference in people’s lives? Do you want to work in an environment where no two days are the same? Are you flexible with your working hours? Can you see yourself providing care to adults who need your support?

Are you currently a Support Worker looking to move into management?

If you answered YES to these questions, we would LOVE to hear from you.

What will I be doing?

At Turning Point, we support people with Learning Disabilities across England.

As a Senior Support Worker, you will make a real difference by improving their daily living skills. Passionate about people, you will enjoy the support and opportunities to develop your career with us, gaining experience and training to progress.

Where will I be working?

You will work in our Garlinge service, a Supported Living facility for people with Learning Disabilities in Thanet.

This location supports individuals with learning and physical disabilities to live in purpose-built flats. There are 8 flats where Support Workers are assigned to specific individuals based on shared preferences and personalities, forming a bespoke team.

The environment is active and busy, supporting individuals with communication, mobility, and health needs. A bus route is available nearby for public transport users.

We aim to foster positive relationships and provide a supportive, person-centred environment. Our services include activities like shopping, managing budgets, and cooking to promote independence.

This is a 24-hour service, so flexibility is essential. Your hours will include shifts on and off rota, which may vary.

Role Responsibilities

The Senior Support Worker supports the management team in supervising the Support Worker team, ensuring proper induction of new staff, including temporary and agency staff.

You will take responsibility for running shifts as the senior on duty, supporting medication administration, monitoring and recording medication, managing individuals’ finances and petty cash, and ensuring compliance with policies and procedures. You will model good practice and support individuals with daily activities, including personal care.

The Ideal Candidate

Skills and qualities required:

* Support Work experience, ideally in a Learning Disability setting
* Passionate, caring, and enthusiastic
* Flexible, patient, and non-judgemental
* A great team player with energy
* Ability to handle physical aspects like manual handling
* Computer skills, including Word and email, are advantageous
