Health, Safety & Wellbeing Advisor, Dartford
The M25 is one of our flagship projects in the UK! It is the most used part of the UK Strategic Road Network, with over 200,000 vehicles per day. This critical infrastructure asset includes around 800 structures and 5 tunnels, requiring high performance, constant improvement, and repairs to ensure smooth operation.
We have formed a joint venture called Connect Plus Services (CPS) to work with our partners to widen, operate, and maintain the M25 under a 30-year contract. We are seeking a Health, Safety & Wellbeing Advisor to join our team. The HS&W Advisor will assist in developing, implementing, and monitoring processes to manage health, safety, and wellbeing risks within the project. The role supports our ambition to be a safe and responsible company for our people, supply chain partners, and communities.
This role will primarily involve:
* Being a visible champion for HSW throughout the project, engaging with operatives and managers
* Overseeing the implementation of organisational standards related to HSW at a local level, providing feedback to HSW Managers on areas for improvement or potential conflicts with business requirements
* Monitoring the delivery of the communication strategy to keep HSW on the operational agenda and reporting on the effectiveness of communication
* Supporting the delivery of appropriate HSW training based on project needs
* Monitoring and managing the closeout of H, S & W 'Don’t Walk By' incidents
* Supporting and undertaking targeted inspections of HSW management systems and supply chain audits, tracking and supporting actions to close out issues
* Managing your own diary and stakeholder communications to plan, schedule, and conduct inspections and HSW conversations with site and depot teams
* Preparing and communicating timely reports and presentations on performance data, inspection findings, and actions to close out issues
* Representing the Health, Safety & Wellbeing function positively during meetings and conference calls
* Reviewing work activities against safety systems and taking appropriate actions, providing documented advice where necessary
* Supporting incident investigations, ensuring incidents are dealt with effectively, and actions are tracked to close out
Essential qualifications:
* Professional qualification in health and safety (minimum NEBOSH General Certificate or equivalent)
* A current CSCS Card
* A full, clean driving license
* Ability to maintain a regular night-time and weekend presence
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and digital platforms at an intermediate level
Desirable qualifications:
* Prior site-based construction experience
* Experience working on a joint venture
* Experience facilitating meetings via digital platforms such as Teams, Zoom, Skype
