* Estimating Leadership & Governance: lead the estimating function, set priorities, standards, and ways of working. Define and implement tender strategies aligned with company objectives, risk appetite, and capacity. Ensure rigorous application of the Gated Lifecycle processes and Stage 2 approvals (i.e., bid/gate documents, approvals, and reviews). Maintain accountability for estimate quality, accuracy, robustness, and commercial integrity.
* Resource & Pipeline Management: proactively plan and manage estimating resources against the live and forecast opportunity pipeline. Balance workload, deadlines, and risk across multiple bids and sectors. Identify resource constraints early and propose solutions. Support go/no-go decisions through clear visibility of resource capacity.
* Systems, Standards & Digital Tools: maintain and continuously improve estimating standards, templates, build‑ups, and procedures. Drive adoption and effective use of digital tools, software and data systems to improve estimating efficiency and consistency. Ensure consistent use of CRM (Salesforce) and other business systems for accurate reporting and forecasting.
* Return of Experience (REX) & Continuous Improvement: collaborate with Operations, Quality and Commercial teams to establish and maintain a structured REX process, capture operational feedback, outturn costs, productivity data and lessons learned, and embed them into pricing rates, build‑ups and risk valuations. Review estimate accuracy versus project outcomes regularly and implement corrective actions.
* Bid Delivery & Stakeholder Engagement: support Regional Pre‑Construction Managers in developing clear, competitive, compliant bids. Ensure early engagement from Operations, Commercial, Technical Solutions and Supply Chain during bid development. Support contract negotiations and ensure structured handover of winning bids to Operations. Maintain proactive engagement with clients, partners and key suppliers.
* Team Leadership & Development: manage, mentor and develop the estimating team, building technical capability and commercial awareness. Identify skill gaps and implement training, coaching and succession planning. Foster a collaborative, forward‑thinking and improvement‑led team culture. Set clear objectives and performance expectations aligned with business goals.

* Proven experience managing an estimating function or team.
* Demonstrated ability to plan resources and prioritise workload across multiple opportunities.
* Strong understanding of how estimates translate into operational delivery and commercial outcomes.
* Experience implementing or improving estimating systems, standards or digital tools.
* Engineering or construction‑related qualification (advantageous).
* Excellent analytical, numerical and problem‑solving skills.
* Confident communicator with the ability to influence across departments and seniority levels.
