Job Summary
We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic GP to join a forward‑thinking, three‑partner training practice caring for 9,500+ patients in Thornbrook, Derbyshire. 4 sessions per week (negotiable). Competitive salary with NHS pension and generous annual leave.
Clinical Responsibilities
* Make yourself available for surgery consultations, telephone consultations, home visits, and repeat prescription checks and signatures.
* Make professional, autonomous decisions regarding presenting problems, whether self‑referred or referred from other health‑care workers.
* Assess the health‑care needs of patients with undifferentiated and undiagnosed problems.
* Screen patients for disease risk factors and early signs of illness.
* Develop care plans in consultation with patients and in line with current practice disease‑management protocols.
* Provide counselling and health education.
* Admit or discharge patients to and from the caseload and refer to other care providers as appropriate.
* Record clear and contemporaneous consultation notes to agreed standards.
* Collect data for audit purposes.
* Compile and issue computer‑generated acute and repeat prescriptions, avoiding handwritten prescriptions whenever possible.
* Prescribe in accordance with the practice prescribing formulary (or generically) when clinically appropriate.
* Undertake all normal duties and responsibilities expected of a GP working within primary care.
Other Responsibilities Within the Organisation
* Awareness and compliance with all practice policies, including prescribing, confidentiality, data protection, and health and safety.
* A commitment to life‑long learning and audit to promote evidence‑based practice.
* Contribute to evaluation, audit, and clinical standard setting within the organisation.
* Participate in the development and maintenance of computer‑based patient records and read‑coding data.
* Complete medical reports in a timely manner.
* Support and participate in the supervision of medical students and trainees.
* Participate in the clinical rota, including extended hours as required.
Qualifications
* General Practitioner registered with the GMC and on the NHS Performers List.
Knowledge and Skills
* Good communication skills.
* Proactive approach to clinical and operational responsibilities.
