We are seeking a highly motivated Health, Safety, Environment, and Quality (HSEQ) Manager, with a background in construction / engineering special projects, for our Faacade Access division located in Chelmsford. This role will report to the Global HSS Lead / UK Snr HSEQ Manager with a dotted line to the Faacade Access Division Manager.

The successful candidate will have a strong background in quality management, engineering / heavy plant and equipment. They will be responsible for ensuring the health and safety of all Faacade Access personnel, environmental protection, and maintaining quality standards on specific, often time-limited, initiatives as well as the general activities required to maintain compliance with our UK and global Group policies, procedures and ISO certifications.

This is a very hands-on role with an approximate split of 60/40 between general HSEQ management support for the business and its management systems, and operational HSEQ support for the Faacade access team; ensuring that excellence and compliance is maintained for service and installation projects on customer sites, throughout the project lifecycles.


Key Responsibilities

General HSEQ Management

* Support the UK Snr HSEQ Manager and wider HSEQ team with maintenance and improvement of the ISO and other certified Integrated Business Management System.
* Identifying, assessing, and managing potential HSEQ risks associated with projects and general business activities, monitoring and ensuring compliance with all relevant health, safety, environmental, and quality regulations, standards, and company policies. Conducting regular business process audits, assessing the effectiveness of HSEQ procedures, and identifying areas for improvement.
* Supporting the Snr HSEQ Manager with Faacade Access division product warranty / quality issues. This involves working with our Spanish quality / engineering teams, and UK FA managers for new projects and service activities, to root cause current issues and drive improvements for future products.
* Monitoring and measuring compliance through visits to customer project sites to audit HSEQ compliance.
* Acting as a point of contact for clients and other stakeholders on HSEQ matters and collaborating with project teams and senior management.
* Supporting project / technical managers with project-specific HSEQ and ITC plans, including product specifications, risk assessments, method statements, and emergency response plans.
* Investigating incidents and near misses, identifying root causes, and implementing corrective and correction actions.
* Delivering toolbox talks, safety briefings, and training to project personnel, and communicating changes to HSEQ procedures.
* Preparing and maintaining HSEQ documentation, including risk assessments, method statements, inspection reports, incident reports, monthly update reports for the division and Snr HSEQ Manager.

Key Skills & Experience

* Strong HSEQ Background: Minimum of 5 years of experience in an HSEQ management role with a strong quality bias; particularly within the relevant industry (e.g., engineering, special projects, heavy plant & equipment) and a professional understanding of ISO standards (9001, 14001, 45001) and management system requirements.
* Process Development and Mapping Experience: Ability to develop and map business processes, identifying improvements and communicating them to the team.
* Project Management Experience: Familiarity with project management methodologies and the ability to manage HSEQ aspects within a project framework.
* Leadership and Communication Skills: Ability to lead teams, communicate effectively with diverse stakeholders, and deliver training.
* Technical Expertise: Strong understanding of relevant HSEQ standards, legislation, and best practices. Engineering / heavy plant and equipment background preferred.
* Problem-Solving and Analytical Skills: Ability to identify hazards, assess risks, and develop solutions to mitigate them.
* Presenting & Report Writing: Strong presentation and report writing skills.
* Qualifications – Must Have: NEBOSH General Certificate or NVQ4/5 Diploma in Occupational Health & Safety Practice. ISO 9001 Lead Auditor and ISO 45001 Internal Auditor.
* Preferred: NEBOSH certificate with Construction, NEBOSH Diploma. ISO 45001 Lead Auditor. ISO 14001 Internal / Lead Auditor. Engineering qualifications (Technician, HNC, HND). CQI Certificate in Quality Management (or similar). Prince 2 (or similar).
* Professional Affiliations (Preferred): TechIOSH, GradIOSH, CertIOSH, CMIOSH, MIIRSM, ACQI, MCQI.
