Helston Town Council is seeking an Administrative Assistant to join our friendly and supportive team. This is a full-time role based at the Guildhall and offers an opportunity to play a key part in supporting local democracy, civic life and community services in one of Cornwall's most distinctive towns.
The post involves a wide range of administrative duties including handling enquiries from the public, supporting meetings and correspondence, maintaining records and assisting with the organisation of civic and community events. The role also includes helping with Guildhall bookings and providing general support to the Town Clerk's Office and elected members.
We are looking for someone with good administrative and IT skills who enjoys working with people and takes pride in providing a welcoming and professional customer service. The role requires excellent communication skills, attention to detail and the ability to work calmly and positively as part of a small team.
This position is suited to someone who is organised, approachable and able to work flexibly, including occasional evening or weekend commitments for civic events. Previous experience in an office or customer-facing environment is essential. Local government experience would be an advantage but is not required.
