Scope & Responsibilities
Tetra Tech is seeking a Wastewater Utilities Technician to support the Wastewater Network Team delivering flow monitoring, asset surveys, CCTV and data‑capture work for Scottish Water across Scotland. Working under a Crew Leader, you will be part of a 2‑ to 3‑person field team installing, commissioning and maintaining monitoring equipment, collecting samples, surveying manholes, CSOs and pumping stations, and completing mobile data records and annotated plans for capital delivery and operational projects. Projects contribute directly to improved network modelling and operational decision‑making.
Career Path
In the short term, you will build practical skills in survey techniques, sampling and monitoring equipment installation. Over the medium term, you will take increasing responsibility for capital delivery tasks and data quality assurance. Longer term, there is clear scope for development into a Senior Technician within wastewater operations, working on significant programmes that influence network resilience and investment decisions.
Core Capabilities
* Technical competence – Practical field experience in utilities, proficiency with drills, measuring tools, monitoring equipment including data loggers and CCTV, comfortable working in confined spaces.
* Data & reporting – Precise record‑keeping and mobile data capture experience, ability to annotate plans and produce clear reports to support modelling and asset‑management decisions.
* Health, safety & compliance – Strong adherence to H&S procedures, daily equipment and vehicle checks, pass drugs and alcohol screening and DBS where required.
* Communication & teamwork – Clear written and verbal communication, dependable team player working with multidisciplinary colleagues and clients on site.
* Problem solving & adaptability – Practical troubleshooting on installations, flexible working approach in varied weather and site conditions.
Skills, Qualifications & Experience
* Essential: full UK driving licence, willingness to undertake mandatory safety, confined space and sampling training.
* Desirable: prior wastewater‑related experience, CSCS or equivalent site safety card, operation of CCTV equipment.
Work patterns & locations
Based in our Stepps office, this position is a field‑based role. Flexible working arrangements are considered where operationally appropriate; some weekend or out‑of‑hours work may be required. Previous experience working in Wastewater field roles is preferred, but not essential.
