The starting salary for these full-time, permanent roles is £36,873 per annum based on a 36 hour working week, plus on-call allowance.
We are excited to be recruiting two Coroner's Officers to join our fantastic team, based in Woking. As a Coroner's Officer you will help support the Senior Coroner deliver their judicial duties, providing a high-quality service to bereaved families by progressing cases efficiently and with empathy.

About the Role
We are looking for individuals who can work at pace to make a difference to the lives of people who have lost family members, loved ones or friends. This role requires being able to deliver the legal duties required compassionately, whilst being personally and emotionally resilient when dealing with what may be difficult or traumatic situations.
Key duties of a Coroner's Officer include:
10. Being the single point of contact for bereaved families and providing them with regular updates
11. Assisting the Coroner in their investigations and being part of the on-call rota that provides a 24/7, 365 day service
12. Managing your own caseload from referral to inquest
13. Working with other key stakeholders and partners, including doctors and pathologists
This role is key to helping investigate where circumstances of a death may have been avoidable, and so help prevent that from happening in future.

Shortlisting Criteria
To be considered for shortlisting for this position, your CV and personal statement will clearly evidence the following:
14. Experience of working within a coronial service, the police, legal profession or other investigatory or regulatory profession
15. Analytical ability to perform this investigation driven role
16. Ability to provide high levels of customer care and professionalism to members of the public
17. Ability to write well structured, clear and concise reports using information gathered from multiple sources (for example, from families, GPs, the police or other health professionals)
18. Excellent IT skills and the ability to follow defined processes in a timely manner
19. Ability to be part of an on-call rota
This role requires travel across the county. The role holder will need to have the willingness and ability to travel around the county to meet the demands of the role.
