About the team:
This position is based within the Group CTO directorate at Jisc, which provides strategic technology leadership across the organisation and to our members. The directorate is responsible for developing innovative, future-focused products and services that align with Jisc’s digital vision. As part of the Workplace IT department, this role sits in the FinSys team, which supports and advances core financial systems critical to Jisc’s operations.
What you’ll be doing:
In this role, you’ll help ensure platform stability and resilience by reducing service disruptions and managing risk. You’ll support the smooth transition of high-quality updates into the live environment, contributing to a seamless and reliable digital experience for Jisc and its members.
This role also supports the release and environment strategy for Jisc’s platforms, driving ongoing improvements to optimise quality and efficiency. Working closely with the Platform Reliability and Release Manager and development teams, it ensures timely, well-managed releases and maintains clear, up-to-date processes and documentation.
Other key responsibilities:
* Support daily platform operations, ensuring stability, planning for scalability, and bridging development and operations to maintain large-scale systems effectively.
* Ensure consistent and timely releases to drive customer satisfaction and adoption, delivering new features, improvements, and fixes that enhance the overall platform experience.
* Support the use of engineering practices to automate tasks like system management, incident handling, and emergency response.
* Manage release communications with stakeholders, setting clear expectations and promoting the benefits of each change.
* Monitor and manage all platform environments, overseeing maintenance, leading upgrades, applying security patches, synchronising sandbox metadata and data sets, and ensuring sandboxes and repositories are regularly refreshed and maintained.
* Oversee tooling related to the role, ensuring it is properly maintained, supported, and that relevant training is delivered to users.
What we are looking for:
* Previous experience managing release cycles and environments for D365 (Finance & Operations), including hands-on involvement with code development, version control, sandbox setup, testing, and production deployment.
* Proven experience configuring D365 (Finance & Operations), including workflows, user profiles, permission sets and groups, lifecycle services management, and version control.
* Effective communication skills, with the ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear, accessible language for diverse audiences.
* Ability to quickly learn and apply new software or business process techniques to develop effective solutions for real-world business challenges.
* Demonstrable experience in some areas such as troubleshooting, change management, sandbox strategies, data migration, metadata deployment, and CI/CD release processes.
* Demonstrable experience in some technologies, including C# .NET scripting, OData/Dataverse/Synapse Datalink, Power Automate development within Power Platform, and DevOps tooling integrated with JIRA.
We know that sometimes people can be put off applying for a job if they think they can’t tick every box, so we encourage you to apply even if you do not meet 100% of the requirements, but if you feel this role is perfect for you. You may be just the right candidate for this or other roles!
Specific patterns for working in the office are not mandated, and the frequency of time worked in the office is agreed with your manager. Meeting in person is something we value, so you may need to travel on occasion to any of our hub offices.
