About the role
An exciting opportunity within East Suffolk and North Essex NHS foundation trust (ESNEFT). The Neonatal Unit is looking for caring, enthusiastic and self‑motivated individuals to join our team of nursery nurses in the neonatal unit and new neonatal transitional care unit on the postnatal ward.
The unit provides care for premature and sick newborns, and NTC for medically stable babies requiring additional observation, treatment and support beyond the usual postnatal pathway.
The successful candidate will rotate between the neonatal and transitional care units to provide family‑centred care under the supervision of registered nurses and midwives. A variety of shifts, including days, nights and weekends, will be required to ensure a 24/7 service.
Responsibilities
* Under the direction of a registered nurse/midwife, carry out assigned baby care and report any changes in a baby's condition/behaviour to the nurse in charge.
* Manage time and workload effectively to promote the smooth running of the service.
* Under the direction of a registered nurse/midwife, undertake specified clinical activities in accordance with level of competency.
* Participate in shift‑to‑shift care of babies within Transitional Care following agreed guidelines.
* Assist in baby clinic held in the children's outpatient department when requested.
* Assist in the preparation of babies undergoing diagnostic procedures and, where applicable, accompany babies/families to the relevant department.
* Maintain accurate clinical records and communicate any concerns to the nurse in charge immediately.
* Comply with Trust policies and procedures, maintaining confidentiality at all times.
* Assist in orienting parents/visitors to the unit and provide a supportive role to parents and families.
* Ensure the supervision and safe custody of patients' and parents' property.
* Assist in maintaining ward/department cleanliness.
