Job description
The post holder is responsible for imparting Health & Safety and Environmental Compliance knowledge in a maritime environment, theoretical training to tri-service and Royal Fleet Auxiliary personnel of all ranks.�
You will have the opportunity to make a real difference across the Royal Navy by providing appropriately trained personnel to ensure safe maintenance and operation of equipment onboard ships, as well as awareness of environmental compliance regulations through instruction, examination, and assessment.
The position is based in the Defence School of Marine Engineering, (DSMarE), situated at HMS Sultan in Gosport. DSMarE is responsible for delivering all aspects of Marine Engineering training to Royal Navy personnel; additionally, some training is also delivered to Army, RAF and Civilian personnel, and to members of Foreign and Commonwealth Armed Forces.�
This post currently attracts an Allowance of �6000 per annum. This is subject to annual review. �

Person specification
A successful candidate will be responsible for delivery of training in the required subjects to classes of up to 24 trainees per class. Instructional loading will absorb up to 80% of your time. When not instructing, the post holder will be required to maintain currency in subject matter, prepare teaching material, upkeep designated subject course documentation, develop new training delivery techniques such as virtual and online training, invigilate and mark examinations/ assessments, propose course ware change requirements and set new examination questions as appropriate. Once experienced, mentor and develop new team members.

The essential specific professional skills, knowledge or qualifications for the post are as follows:�
1. 5 years recent relevant experience and a recognised qualification, minimum ONC Level 3, in the post field of expertise.
Or
Candidates who have completed UK Armed Forces Marine Engineering training within the M1/M2/M3 specification, have attained Senior Non-Commissioned Officer level and have a proven track record of Health & Safety and Environmental Compliance experience will be deemed as meeting the necessary qualification requirements.
Desirable.
The desired professional skills, knowledge or qualifications for the post are as follows:�
2. HNC/HND Engineering (relevant field)
3. A recognised teaching qualification (DTTTv2 / CERT Ed / DTLLS).�
4. NEBOSH Diploma in Health and Safety
If no teaching qualifications are held, formal training on the Defence Trainer Course and the opportunity to study for a civilian qualification in teaching will be made available to the successful candidate.
