FINANCE DIRECTOR THE BERNERS-ALLSOPP ESTATE Attractive salary Near Faringdon, Oxfordshire A key leadership position, alongside the Chairman and Managing Director, on a long-held and successful commercial and rural property estate split between Central London and Oxfordshire. Retirement has given rise to the opportunity for a new Finance Director to join and play a fundamental role in supporting the family and trustees as they look to ensure the Estate’s vitality and careful custodianship into the future. THE POSITION Provide the Estate’s in-house financial leadership – acting as the first point of reference for financial and tax planning across the Estate and delivering efficient and comprehensive financial management and reporting. Take a leading role in the successful execution of selected strategies and opportunities across the Estate as well as representing the Estate’s interests with third parties such as lenders and advisers. Work closely with the Estate’s advisers to implement the key elements of capital tax planning and management that is inherent to the Estate’s structure. Play a crucial part in the Estate’s meetings and governance structure and develop a close working relationship with the family, including supporting the management of their financial and tax affairs. THE CANDIDATE A qualified accountant with a well-grounded, commercial perspective (that ideally includes experience of property-based asset management) as well as an empathy for long-term, family-owned businesses. A collegiate executive who enjoys the challenge of a working week that spans from the strategic to hands-on execution and who thrives in a highly collaborative, non-hierarchical working environment. A consummate professional who has an eye for detail and has the intellectual agility and curiosity to embrace working within an organisational structure that includes a number of trusts with their capital tax planning and management requirements.
