Offer description

Knowledge and Information Skills Specialist x 2 (Ref: 219321)

Primary Care Improvement Portfolio Team

£41,608 - £50,702 (Band 6)

Full time (37 hours per week)

Fixed term contract/secondment to 31 March 2026

Edinburgh or Glasgow – hybrid working will apply for the foreseeable future

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Nursing and Integrated Care Directorate within Healthcare Improvement Scotland (HIS). The successful candidates will work supporting the Primary Care Improvement Portfolio (PCIP) and support their improvement work. Primary Care is the largest and busiest part of the NHS, with over 600,000 patients seen each week, so improvements can make a huge difference to patients and staff.

Responsibilities

We are looking to appoint enthusiastic and positive Knowledge and Information Skills Specialists to work with us. Key responsibilities of the post holders will include:

* Capturing stories and case studies to evidence the impact of the Primary Care Improvement Portfolio work.
* Identifying and capturing examples of innovation, such as new service models and good practice to inform the development of our work, building the case for doing things differently.
* Undertaking horizon scanning of published reviews, evidence or innovative thinking that can inform the development of our work.
* Contribute to the development of the primary care learning system.
* Together with health service researchers, developing evaluation plans and supporting data collection and analysis.
* Sharing and disseminating knowledge across various information channels (web sites, social media, newsletters) in collaboration with the PCIP team and the communications team.
* Working in partnership with colleagues across the organisation, the Evidence and Evaluation for Improvement Team, the Communication Team and the wider Evidence Directorate within HIS to ensure a quality service.

We are particularly interested in recruiting creative individuals who can present complex information in a clear and engaging way. Experience of presenting information visually is advantageous but not essential, however, willingness to learn and develop skills in this area is important. The successful candidates will have excellent interpersonal skills and be able to work effectively on their own but also as part of a team. A flexible and creative approach to work is important. You will be accustomed to working in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines and competing priorities.

For further information about the Primary Care Improvement Portfolio, please contact Claire Goodheir Curtis, Senior Improvement Advisor, at claire.goodheircurtis@nhs.scot.

Closing date: Sunday 03 August 2025 at midnight

It is anticipated that interviews will be held in person in Glasgow on Thursday 14 August 2025 #J-18808-Ljbffr
