Tutor Needed – 1:1 Support for Year 6 Learner (EBSA) | DT6 Area | Urgent Start
Part-time | Mornings Mon-Fri | Term Time Only
Prospero Teaching is searching for a compassionate, dedicated 1:1 Tutor to support a Year 6 pupil experiencing EBSA (Emotionally Based School Avoidance). This role is based within a school setting, offering the chance to make a genuine impact on a young person’s confidence, learning and wellbeing.

🎓 What You’ll Be Doing
As a Prospero Tutor, you will:
1. ✏️ Plan and deliver engaging, personalised sessions tailored to the learner’s needs.
2. 📈 Assess and monitor progress, offering constructive feedback and encouragement.
3. 📝 Record student progress and provide clear weekly reports.
4. 🤝 Build a trusting relationship by showing empathy, understanding and consistency.
5. ⏱️ Record attendance accurately.
6. 🎨 Bring creativity, adaptability and organisation to every session.
7. 😌 Maintain a calm, fair and patient approach at all times.
💡 About You
We’re looking for someone who is:
8. ✔️ Experienced working with young people in UK schools (minimum 1 year – essential)
9. ✔️ Confident delivering Maths and English at primary level
10. ✔️ Calm, reliable, empathetic and resilient
11. ✔️ Skilled at building rapport and inspiring learners
12. ✔️ Experienced with SEN/SEMH learners (desirable, not essential)
13. ✔️ Understanding of EBSA or alternative provision approaches

16. Location: DT6 area
17. Hours: ~10 per week (mornings Mon-Fri)
18. Further hours: Opportunities to take on additional students
19. Contract: Term-time only, ongoing
📚 Essential Requirements
To be considered, you must:
20. 🇬🇧 Have the right to work in the UK
21. 🛡️ Hold an enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or be willing to apply for one)
22. 📞 Provide professional references
23. 🧠 Have up-to-date safeguarding training (or be willing to complete it)
