Working pattern: Predominantly remote, with in-person visits as required

The opportunity
Join Cafcass' Private Law teams as an Agency Family Court Adviser, where you'll use your social work expertise to help families agree safe, child‑focused arrangements or to advise the court where local authorities have raised serious concerns. You'll complete high‑quality assessments, represent children's wishes and feelings, and apply robust risk assessment and mediation skills to advocate for arrangements that serve the best interests of children.
What you'll do
* Conduct direct work with children and families to understand and convey the child's voice to the court.
* Complete timely, evidence‑based assessments and clearly reasoned recommendations.
* Apply strong risk assessment and safeguarding judgement across complex private law cases.
* Work collaboratively with parents, carers, legal representatives and partners to progress safe plans.
* Manage a varied caseload independently, balancing remote work with in‑person visits across Cornwall.
Essential criteria
* Qualified Social Worker (SW Degree/Equivalent) and SWE registered.
* Enhanced DBS within the last 12 months.
* Right to Work in the UK (sponsorship is not offered).
* Demonstrable experience in risk assessment, court reporting and child‑centred practice.
* Confident communicator with strong mediation and analytical skills.
Desirable criteria
* 3+ years' experience working with children and families in a social work capacity.
* Experience in Family Court proceedings and understanding of Public Law.
* Highly organised, resilient, able to work independently and manage workload effectively.
