Responsibilities
* Welcoming and receiving service users into the practice.
* Reassuring service users and explaining dental procedures especially when there may be communication difficulties.
* Monitoring, supporting and reassuring service users through relevant behavioural techniques.
* Identifying any complications and taking the necessary actions consistent with agreed local and national protocols.
* Recording treatment, for example, baseline charting, clinical treatments and periodontal charting from the dental operators instructions.
* Assisting the operator in organising the day's activities.
* Monitoring day lists and appointment diary and updating as necessary.
* Preparing the surgery for use at the beginning of the session and clearing up at the end of the session.
* Arranging for the timely supply of materials and laboratory work.
* Preparing filling and impression materials, instruments, equipment, dressings and syringes as requested by the dental operator.
* Maintaining hand pieces, aspirators and other equipment.
* Supporting the wider dental team; this key role will provide dental nurse support and work alongside dentists, dental therapists/hygienists, receptionists in the care of service users.
