As a Relief Counsellor, you will provide therapeutic counselling to individuals accessing CrossReach Counselling Services. Working as part of a supportive and professional team, you will help ensure clients receive a high quality, compassionate service that supports wellbeing, resilience and personal growth.
This flexible relief role allows you to contribute your professional skills within an established counselling service committed to strong clinical standards and person centred care.
What your day could look like
* Providing therapeutic counselling using an appropriate recognised theoretical model
* Holding clinical responsibility for your own caseload from referral through to completion of therapy and evaluation
* Maintaining accurate and confidential therapeutic records using approved systems
* Working closely with clinical and business support colleagues to ensure coordinated care
* Attending and contributing to clinical and management supervision
* Working in line with safeguarding, data protection and professional ethical standards
* Liaising with other professionals where safeguarding concerns arise
* Supporting service improvement through reflective practice and shared learning
* Maintaining your continuing professional development and keeping up to date with current research and best practice
About you
You will hold a Diploma in Counselling or another relevant qualification such as Art Therapy and be registered with PSA or HPC. A qualification in counselling for Children and Young People is desirable but not essential. You will have significant post qualifying practice hours and the ability to manage your own caseload while working effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
You will bring strong communication skills, sound professional judgement and the ability to maintain appropriate boundaries and ethical practice. Good IT skills are required, including the ability to use Microsoft Office and online systems to maintain accurate records.
You will value supervision and reflective practice, demonstrate strong self awareness and take responsibility for maintaining your own professional wellbeing.
You must be respectful of the Christian ethos of CrossReach and able to work within it. This role requires membership of the Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme and completion of the necessary vetting checks.
